Hollingsworth Field
Hollingsworth Field provides the Gustavus community with an attractive and unique venue from which to watch the Golden Gustie football team compete.
The new synthetic turf, which was replaced in 2018, is recessed below ground level and an earthen berm surrounds the entire field. Spectators enter the stadium through an arched entryway called "Traditions Plaza" and have access to seating on both sides of the stadium via a concrete sidewalk located on top of the berm. The berm also provides ample space for people to be seated informally on the grass to watch games. The stadium seats 2,500 spectators and features a stadium tower with facilities for working press, coaches, and guests of the College. The press box is 1,500 square feet while the Presidential Suite is 1,200 square feet. A visitors' section across the field accommodates another 1,000 fans. When you combine the stadium seating, the visitor seating, and the grass berm seating, the total capacity for the stadium is approximately 5,000.
The $4.6 million stadium was completed in 2007, replacing the 100-year-old Hollingsworth Field, which was located directly south across the street where Beck Academic Hall and Annexstad Mall currently stand. The field is named in honor of longtime Gustavus coach, teacher, and athletics director Lloyd Hollingsworth.
