GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore swimmer
Braden Ripken (Blaine, Minn.) swam in his seeded event at the NCAA Division III Championships on day three of the meet, competing in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims on Friday morning, March 21.
Ripken, who was seeded 16th in the event with a time of 54.46, took 26th overall with a time of 55.28 in the morning session. Emory's (Ga.) Henri Bonnault, who was seeded first in the event heading into the meet, claimed the top spot in the "A" finals, to be swam later in the day, with a time of 53.11. Bonnault entered the meet with the only seed time below 53 seconds.
Ripken opened the championships earlier in the week with a 21.31 in the 50 freestyle prelims for 46th overall. He was seeded 43rd in the event with a time of 20.95.
The Blaine native will conclude the season for the Gustavus swimming and diving team tomorrow, March 22, swimming in the 200 breaststroke. Saturday's prelims begin at 9 a.m. CT. The 200 breaststroke is the sixth event in the morning session.
