MANKATO, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women's soccer team traveled to Mankato to take on the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings on Wednesday evening. The Gusties scored thrice while holding the Vikings scoreless in a 3-0 victory.
Haillee Wilson gave Gustavus the lead in the 21
st minute.
Kaitlyn Brandt sent a pass up field to Wilson, who then sped past the BLC defenders and fired a shot across the goal to ricochet the ball in off the far post for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
The Gusties doubled their lead in the 53
rd minute.
Cambelle Waldspurger fired a shot at goal that was saved, but the deflected shot went right to
Amara Easley who gave it right back to Waldspurger for a second shot that then found the back of the net.
In the 87
th minute, Gustavus scored once more as
Armana Ransanici threaded a pass through traffic to find
Libby Moore, who fired a shot past the diving Viking keeper to put the Gusties up 3-0.
Katelyn Olson had three saves in goal for Gustavus to secure the shutout win.
Up next for the Gusties is their home opener against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Saturday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m.
