SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday and the seniors celebrated on the field themselves, contributing to each of the three goals today.
Senior
Jack Isroff (Valparaiso, Ind.) celebrated senior day in style in the first half, scoring off of a cross from junior
Henrry Abarca-Gonzalez (Des Moines, Iowa). Isroff, the second lowest player on the field at the time for Gustavus, scored with his head, getting free from his defender and finding the bottom left corner. Isroff provided an assist on the second goal of the game to classmate
Joe Flory (Whitchurch, England) just two minutes later. Isroff was on the receiving end of a deflection and helped the ball land at Flory's feet, who calmly passed the ball past the goalkeeper. The third and final goal of the half came with just over five minutes to play. First-year
Jack Potter (London, England) dispossessed a Piper and played a long ball over the top to senior
Gaylen Frazier (Plymouth, Minn.) who, after a few touches, slotted the ball across to sophomore
Kieran Mahan (Wayzata, Minn.) who passed the ball in. Junior
Easton Hoch (Victoria, Minn.) almost scored seconds later, but the attempt was cleared off the goal line. The Gusties took 11 shots, six of which were on goal, and led in corners, 4-1.
In the second half, the Gusties dominated with 11 shots compared to the Pipers' zero. Gustavus had four corner kicks and two shots on goal, but the highlight of the half was senior
Jordan Burris (Zimmerman, Minn.), who played the first minutes of his career, subbing in the 84th minute.
Today marked Senior Day for the Gustavus men's soccer team, celebrating fourteen players.
