KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Gustavus women's soccer team has earned the Team Academic Award, United Soccer Coaches announced on Friday. The Gusties boasted the fifth highest GPA in Division III and tied for the ninth best GPA across all divisions. 

A total of 779 soccer teams (327 men, 452 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year. 

Gustavus held a 3.80 GPA, just 0.01 higher than the 2024-25 team, who also won this award. The Gusties have won the award every year since the COVID-19 pandemic, including a second place finish across all divisions in 2024. 

Across the 2025 season, senior Cambelle Waldspurger (Mahtomedi, Minn./Biology) was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region Second Team, in addition to seniors Haillee Wilson (Ashland, Wis./Exercise Physiology), Payton Mahady (Minnetonka, Minn./Communication Studies), Kaitlyn Brandt (Blaine, Minn./Management), and juniors Josie Moore (Omaha, Neb./Political Science and English) and Taylor Finney (Byron, Minn./Nursing) who were named CSC Academic All-District. 

The Gustavus women's soccer team opens their 2026 campaign on September 1st, hosting UW-River Falls at 4:00 p.m. on the Gustie Soccer Field.
