Laura Burnett-Kurie entering her 13th season as head coach of the Gustavus women's soccer program in the 2024-25 acadmeic year. Burnett-Kurie, a 2008 graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges (N.Y.), is the fifth head coach in the history of the Gustavus women’s soccer program.

Last season, Burnett-Kurie directed the Gustavus women's soccer team to an overall record of 9-7-1 and MIAC record of 5-5-1 to tie for sixth place in the conference. The Gusties missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker. Sophomore Cambelle Waldspurger (Mahtomedi) was selected as the team's sole representative on the MIAC All-Conference team, while Annika Lewis (Sr., Hudson, Wis.) and Callie Patraw (Jr., Ramsey) were named Honorable Mention All-MIAC.

Burnett-Kurie earned her first MIAC Coach-of-the-Year honor after her fourth season with Gustavus in 2015. Burnett-Kurie led the 2015 Gusties to the greatest turnaround in program history as they finished 13-7-1 overall and 8-3 in the MIAC, and then went on to claim the MIAC Playoff title with a 1-0 victory at St. Thomas. Burnett-Kurie also directed her squad in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.

A licensed member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), Burnett-Kurie previously served as the assistant women’s soccer coach at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif. from August of 2010 to 2012. While on staff for the Bulldogs, Burnett-Kurie served as the team’s director of recruiting and assisted in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of running a high caliber NCAA women’s soccer program. Redlands compiled a mark of 22-15-1 overall and 13-11-0 within the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) during her two seasons with the program. The Bulldogs qualified for the SCIAC Post-Season Tournament both years following fourth place league finishes.

Before taking the job at Redlands, Burnett-Kurie served as an assistant coach for the Gettysburg College (Pa.) women’s soccer program from June 2008-2010. At Gettysburg, Burnett-Kurie assisted in all aspects of team management and was specifically responsible for the in-season and off-season strength and conditioning programs for the team.

As a college player, Burnett-Kurie was a four-year starter and captain (2007) for the Heron women’s soccer program from 2004-07.  During her tenure on the field, she helped lead the team to the program’s first Liberty League Championship, one ECAC Championship, and two NCAA Tournament appearances.  William Smith went a combined 56-13-8 within that time, as Burnett-Kurie became just the fifth women’s soccer player in Heron history to reach the 100-point milestone, registering 42 goals and 18 assists over her career.  After being named Liberty League Rookie-of-the Year in 2004, she went on to be a two-time National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Third Team All-American (2006, 2007), and the Liberty League’s Player of the Year in 2006.

In addition to her accomplishments on the field, the Durham, N.H. native also garnered numerous academic honors. Burnett-Kurie was an ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America honoree in 2005, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree (2005-07), and a three-time Liberty League All-Academic performer.

Burnett-Kurie and her husband Patrick Clark '12 reside in Saint Peter.
