Owen Forsythe is in his first year as a Sports Communications Specialist at Gustavus Adolphus College. During his time as a student at Gustavus, he has worked in the Sports Information office for three years, gaining meaningful and educational experience in every aspect of the profession.
During the summer of 2025, Forsythe attended the NCAA Career in Sports Forum, which brings together 200+ student-athletes from around the country to explore skills to help them find a job in sports after their playing career, along with being the interim contact for all varsity and club sports at Gustavus. Forsythe majored in Sport Management, minored in Political Science, and was a punter/kicker for the football team at Gustavus, where he was a MIAC All-Conference for the 2025 season and a MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention for the 2024 season.
Since joining the Sports Information staff in 2022, Forsythe has executed a number of different roles and responsibilities from play-by-play to statistics, live streaming, photography, social media, and any other duties of the office. He has published multiple times on the Gustavus Athletics website, as well as the conference site, and served as the primary communications contact for the Gustavus women's hockey team's 2024-25 NCAA tournament appearance. He has spent the previous three years helping Gustavus in its transition from an institutionally-run website to a SIDEARM site, and currently manages the publication and organization of the department's archives. He was additionally honored as a finalist for Gustavus's Student Employee of the Year for his contributions to the athletic department in his junior year.
Forsythe also works for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) as a statistician and is a referee for U.S. Soccer. He is a native of Shakopee, Minn., where he played soccer, football, and tennis in high school.
