Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Tim Kennedy

Luther Downs Women’s Soccer Squad 4-1

The Gustavus women's soccer team lost 4-1 to Luther in a non-conference matchup in St. Peter on Sunday. With the loss, the Gusties drop to 4-5-1 on the season. The Norse improved their season record to 9-4.

Luther wasted little time in scoring as Sarah Braun scored on an assist from Katie Pettigrew less than one minute into the contest. Pettigrew would add three goals of her own to give Luther a 4-0 advantage.

Gustavus finally got on the scoreboard in the 81st minute of the game when Kara Knutson scored from 18 yards out on the right side of the box. The assist was credited to Liz Petersen. The goal was Knutson's first collegiate score and the assist was the first for Petersen in her first year in the program.

This is the first time in the 11-game history of the series that Luther has defeated Gustavus. The Gusties now lead the all-time series 8-1-2.

Gustavus returns to action on Saturday, October 11 by hosting Augsburg at 12:00 pm.
