SAINT PETER, Minn. - No. 19 Gustavus volleyball defeated Concordia in straight sets Tuesday night at Gus Young Court, improving to 17-4 overall and 6-0 in the MIAC.
Concordia had an early 3-1 lead in the first set until Gustavus answered with a 6-1 run and never trailed the rest of the way for a 25-12 win. The Gusties gave up an early advantage in the second as the Cobbers went on a 6-1 run for a 6-4 lead. Both teams went on runs through the second frame but the Gusties had the momentum at the end, finishing the set on a 4-1 spree for a 25-20 decision. The third set was all Gustavus as it started the frame with a 7-2 lead and cruised to a 25-15 match-clinching win.Â
The Gusties posted a .246 hitting percentage and limited the Cobbers to a .131 clip.
Lauren Klaith posted the most efficient hitting percentage of her career at .565, collecting 14 kills on 23 attempts with just one error.
Kasie Tweet distributed 31 assists and dug out 10 attacks for her 14th double-double of the season.
Maren Sundberg led the defense with 19 digs.Â
Gustavus travels to UW-Whitewater this weekend for an invitational tournament. The Gusties face the host Warhawks on Friday night and then take on Carthage and UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.Â
