WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Gustavus volleyball team split its final two matches at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Saturday, losing 3-2 to Carthage and then beating UW-Stevens Point 3-1. The Gusties are now 18-6 overall.Â
Gustavus 2, Carthage 3
Carthage put the Gusties in a 2-0 hole with a 25-21 first set win and a marathon 29-27 decision in set two. Gustavus bounced back with a 25-22 win in the third and a 25-21 win in the fourth to force a deciding fifth set. Unfortunatley for the Gusties, they lost the fifth 15-8.

Lauren Klaith led the offense with 14 and 13 kills, respectively.
Kasie Tweet distributed 44 assists along with 21 digs.
Maren Sundberg added a team-high 25 digs.Â
Gustavus 3, UW-Stevens Point 1
In a top-20 matchup between No. 19 Gustavus and No. 17 UW-Stevens Point, it was the Gusties who came out on top after four sets. The Pointers won the second frame in convincing fashion 25-12, but the Gusties claimed the first, third, and fourth 27-25, 25-18, and 25-20.Â
Marlee Turn posted a game-high 18 kills along with 17 digs. Turn is now 22 kills away from reaching 1,000 in her career. Tweet added 40 assists and Sundberg dug out 26 attacks.Â
Gustavus returns to conference play Friday at St. Olaf.Â
