MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball team earned its fourth consecutive MIAC shutout Friday night at Augsburg, improving to 21-6 overall and 9-0 in the league.
Marlee Turn became the 16th member of Gustavus's 1,000 kill club after tallying eight against the Auggies.
The Gusties got the first point of the opening set and never trailed in a 25-17 decision. Augsburg scored the first two points of the second frame but Gustavus responded with five straight points for a 5-2 lead. Augsburg tied the score once more but the Gusties rattled off seven consecutive points midway through and and cruised to a 25-15 win. After trading points to open the third set, the Gusties took control midway through and ended the match on a dominant 20-5 run.
Gustavus hit a season-high .477 on the attack, highlighted by
Sydney Olson going 9-for-10 on the attack with no errors.
Lauren Klaith led the team with 14 kills and hit at a .609 rate.
Kasie Tweet distributed 36 assists with two service aces, and Maren Sundberd led the back line with nine digs.
The Gusties host Bethel at 7 p.m. Saturday for their final home regular season game where they can clinch the MIAC regular season title.
