SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Gustavus volleyball team completed an undefeated season in the MIAC on Friday night, sweeping St. Kate's for its second consecutive 11-0 conference season. The Gusties secured their third consecutive MIAC regular season championship and enter next week's playoffs 23-6 overall.  

Gustavus started the first set with an 8-2 lead and maintained the advantage throughout for a 25-20 win. St. Kate's jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the second but a 7-2 run by the Gusties gave them a 9-8 advantage. The Wildcats took back the lead at 15-14 and again at 17-15, but the Gusties responded with 10-2 spree to win the set 25-19. 

The Gusties rolled their momentum into the third with a 7-3 but the Wildcats had an answer, going on a 12-3 run for a 15-10 lead. Again, the Gusties responded by finishing the set on a 14-7 run for a 25-22 win. 

Gustavus hit .180 on the attack and limited the Wildcats to a .085 clip. Lauren Klaith led the team with 10 kills, followed by Madi Kes with eight. Kasie Tweet had 32 assists and 19 digs, while Maren Sundberg led the back line with 21 digs. 

The Gusties have a first round bye as the No. 1 seed in the MIAC playoffs and will host the winner of No. 4 St. Catherine and No. 5 Bethel at 7 p.m. Thursday.
