BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Gustavus football athletes
Jake Breitbach and
Andrew Abegglen were named MIAC Players of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. It is the second conference weekly award this season for both players.
Breitbach earns his second Offensive Player of the Week honor after accounting for three of the Gusties' five touchdowns in the team's division-clinching win over Carleton on Saturday, going for 227 yards on 12 receptions. Breitbach has surpassed 200 receiving yards four times this year and set the single-season program record for receptions (104) and receiving yards (1,518) with one game left to play.
Andrew Abegglen went 5-for-5 on PAT tries to go along with a 26-yard field goal for a perfect kicking day for the Gusties in a 38-20 win over Carleton to secure a berth in the MIAC Football Championship game. Abegglen also had seven kickoffs for an average of 60.4 yards with one touchback, and was named MIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance.
