CLAREMONT, LOS ANGELES, IRVINE, Calif. – The Gustavus women's tennis team enjoyed the southern California sun during its spring break trip Saturday through Monday with three matches. The Gusties started the trip with a shutout loss to No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, rebounded with a 6-3 win over Occidental, and then wrapped up the trip with a 6-1 loss to Westcliff. The Gusties are now 10-9 overall.
"We had a great week in Los Angeles," Head Coach Jon Carlson said. "It's great to play top level teams such as Claremont to know what the very best in Division III are all about and what we need to do to get there. It was a great match against Occidental and very proud of how we fought as a team. Westcliff was an unknown and they turned out to be very good. All in all, I'm very proud of the girls and we're excited going into this weekend's tournament in Madison, Wisconsin."
Gustavus next plays in the Midwest Invitational Friday and Saturday in Madison, Wis.
