ROME, Ga. – Four athletes from the Gustavus women's tennis team continued competition at the ITA Cup at the Rome Tennis Center, as Karina Elvestrom (Fy., Minnetonka), Kaya De Bruijn (Jr., Maasland, Netherlands), Molly Austin (Jr., Arden Hills), and Allison Szalay (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa) competed in the consolation draw.

After opening her week against the New England Regional champion, Elvestrom faced Trinity's Ruth Hill, the winner of the Southwest bracket. Elvestrom started strong against the six-time All-American, winning the first set 6-2. Hill eventually found her groove, ending the first-year's only singles match of the day with 6-1 and 6-3 victories in sets two and three.

The meeting was not the only one between Elvestrom and Hill on the day, as the two faced each other once more in the doubles consolation draw, as Elvestrom was joined by partner De Bruijn to take on Hill and Olivia Kim. De Bruijn and Elvestrom claimed set one, 6-2, but Hill and Kim bested the Gusties 7-5 in the second set, and won a clean 10-0 in the tiebreaker.

Szalay and Austin, who battled to a three set tiebreaker against some of the nation's best the day before, faced Anna Chow and Shelly Zinchenko of Carnegie Mellon, runners-up in the ITA Southeast Region. The Gustie pair collected their first victory of the weekend, advancing to the consolation semifinal with a 6-2, 6-3 win Friday afternoon.

Elvestrom will play again in the singles, with her match to begin at 10 a.m. CST Saturday morning, while both doubles teams will compete in the next consolation round Saturday at 4 p.m.
