BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Maren Sundberg (Jr., Eagan) was named the MIAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week on Monday, Oct. 14. 

The junior libero helped the Gustie defense to two wins last week, totaling 41 digs to lead the back line. Against St. Scholastica on Friday, Sundberg collected 21 digs, a kill, five assists, and a service ace. In the Gusties' Homecoming thriller on Saturday, the Eagan native collected 20 digs, a number of which were sprawling saves, helping the team sweep the Pipers 3-0. Sundberg was perfect on the serve reception all weekend, without a single error through either match.

Last week's matches were the seventh and eighth times this season Sundberg has collected 20 or more digs. This is her first Athlete of the Week honor of the season, and the fourth of her career. The junior also eclipsed the 1,500 dig mark the week before, becoming just the fourth player to achieve the milestone after Emily Klein '09, Paige Breneman '15, and Brittany Luethmers '19.

The Gustie volleyball team (12-9, 5-0 MIAC) concludes its non-conference schedule this weekend, hosting UW-River Falls (9-14, 1-2 WIAC) and Luther (5-16, 1-3 A-R-C) for a triangular. Before then, the team will take the trip north to Concordia (2-17, 2-3 MIAC) for a conference match-up on Wednesday.
