BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Macie Malchow (Fy., Sioux Falls, S.D.) was named the MIAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week on Monday, Oct. 7.

The first-year setter certainly had a match to remember on Saturday, leading the No. 25 Gusties to a 3-0 sweep of Macalester in her first collegiate start. Malchow posted a complete performance, collecting 27 assists to direct the Gustavus offense. She added a pair of kills, a solo block, seven digs, and three service aces to lead the team to its sixth sweep of the season.

With Malchow on the serve, the Gusties collected five consecutive points to start the second set and four consecutive to end it, helping the team to another conference win. The Gusties (10-9, 3-0 MIAC) will play their next two at home, hosting St. Scholastica (8-9, 1-2 MIAC) Friday and Hamline (7-10, 0-2 MIAC) Saturday for Homecoming and Alumni Day at Gus Young Court. Gustavus is more than halfway done with its 2024 season, with 10 matches remaining in the regular season, including two final non-conference competitions on Oct. 19.
