Men's Swim & Dive Opens Season with Wins Over Luther and Morningside

11/2/2024 6:58:00 PM

DECORAH and SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Gustavus men's swimming & diving team officially began the 2024-25 season with a pair of victories over Luther and Morningside as a split squad took on the two teams in Iowa Saturday afternoon. The Gusties won their first dual of the day, 186-111 over Luther, followed by a 141-116 win at Morningside.

"It was great to get the competitive part of our season started after over a month of good, quality training," said Head Coach Jon Carlson '88. "It was fun to race other teams instead of just ourselves as we have been in practice over this last month. The team performed well in both locations, with some really outstanding performances to start the season. When you split your team like that against two really good teams, it makes for a very exciting day, all the way to the end. Our swimmers stepped up time and time again to collect some pretty amazing times. I know myself and the team are excited for the rest of the season after today's performance."
