GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men's swim & dive team had four student-athletes earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District awards, the organization formerly known as CoSIDA announced on Tuesday.
Braden Ripken,
Aiden Carlson,
Brandon Wilcek, and
Ben Kell all earned Academic All-District honors for the Gusties.
CSC Swimming & Diving Academic All-District award winners must have a cumulative GPA above 3.50 and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Student-athletes must also do at least one of the following: compete in 75 percent of competitions, finish top-eight at a conference meet, or participate in a national championship.
Ripken is an Economics major with a 3.767 GPA. The junior won seven All-Conference awards at the MIAC Championship, winning the 50 Freestyle (20.70), 100 Breaststroke (53.76), 200 Medley Relay (1:30.28), 400 Medley Relay (3:20.46), 200 Freestyle Relay (1:23.32), and 400 Freestyle Relay (3:04.99) and placing second in the 100 Freestyle (46.14).
Carlson is an Exercise Physiology major with a 3.844 GPA. The junior earned five All-Conference awards this season, placing first in the 200 Breaststroke (2:04.28), 100 Butterfly (49.66), 200 Medley Relay (1:30.28), and 400 Medley Relay (3:20.46) and took third in the 100 Breaststroke (56.42).
Wilcek is a Biology major with a 3.885 GPA. The senior won two All-Conference awards, finishing as the runner-up in the 100 Breaststroke (56.22) and taking third in the 200 Breaststroke (2:06.19). Wilcek also earned an Honorable Mention in the 200 IM (1:55.27), placing fourth.
Kell is an Exercise Physiology major with a 3.782 GPA. The junior earned two All-Conference awards, placing, second in the 200 Butterfly (1:53.09), and third in the 200 IM (1:54.88). He also was an Honorable Mention in the 100 Butterfly (50.65), placing sixth.
