BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Lauren Klaith (5th, Rockford, Minn.) was named the MIAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday, Nov. 4.
Klaith had a pair of highly efficient matches for the Gusties last week, leading the offense with an attack of .410 in two victories. Against Augsburg, Klaith collected 15 kills on 34 attempts with 0 errors to hit .441, a season-high for the fifth-year All-American outside.
She added another dominant performance on Saturday, helping the Gusties to a sweep of Bethel with 11 kills on 27 attempts with just one error to hit .370. Of her 61 attack attempts for the weekend, her one error came as she attempted to evade a block from her hit that was landing out of bounds and inadvertently fell, with the ball just barely grazing her foot. The win at Bethel helped the Gusties clinch at least a share of the 2024 MIAC Regular Season Championship.
Klaith has helped the Gusties maintain one of the best offenses in the country, as the team ranks seventh in NCAA Division III with 13.74 kills per set, 15th in team attacks per set (39.16), and 23rd in team hitting percentage (0.236). Individually, Klaith leads the conference with 3.91 kills per set, a mark that ranks 34th in the country.
The Gusties have just one conference match remaining in their season, hosting St. Catherine (19-7, 9-1 MIAC) Saturday for Senior Night and a chance at another undefeated MIAC season and the outright regular season title.
