Women's Swim & Dive Splits with MSU-Mankato, UW-Stevens Point

SAINT PETER, Minn. – The women of Gustavus swim & dive split against two opponents in their home opener Saturday, defeating UW-Stevens Point 233-80 and falling to MSU-Mankato by a score of 230-86. The Gusties claimed first in three events, and were led by the individual performance of first-year Geneva Fackler (Plymouth, Minn.).

Fackler claimed two of the Gusties' first-place wins, touching the wall in 1:57.56 in the 200 free and finishing the 500 free in 5:19.46. She added a pair of fourth-place finishes on the Gustie relay teams as well. The 200 medley squad of Fackler, Eloise Cooper (Fy., Stevens Point, Wis.), Lindsay Sundby (Jr., Randolph, Minn.), and Marit Isaacson (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) finished in 1:50.68. Fackler, Stella Anderson Moye (So., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), Katelyn Siers (Fy., St. Cloud, Minn.), and Teresa Gatti (Fy., St. Paul, Minn.) also took fourth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:42.76.

Isaacson collected the other Gustie victory, taking first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.08. Sundby was the highest Gustie finisher in the 100 breaststroke, taking second in 1:10.04, while Madison Witte (So., Glencoe, Minn.) took second in the 200 butterfly to lead the Gusties. 

Cooper added a pair of third-place finishes to her day, touching the wall in 1:00.99 in the 100 backstroke and 2:18.10 in the 200 back. Hadley Wartner (So., Minneapolis, Minn.) took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.46), while Ursala Bader (So., St. Paul, Minn.) took third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:58.29. Sydney Prowse (Sr., Beloit, Wis.) was the Gusties' highest finisher in the 1000 freestyle, taking fourth in 11:48.79.

On the boards, MIAC Athlete of the Week Gabriella Stoudt (Jr., Maple Plain, Minn.) took third in the 1-meter with a score of 196.50, while Jessica Pagelkopf (So., Esko, Minn.) finished fifth with a 179.19. On the 3-meter, Stoudt took fourth to lead the squad with a 196.95, while Erin Hall (So., Bloomington, Minn.) was next, taking fifth with a 190.50. 

The Gusties are back at home next Saturday, hosting St. Olaf at Vic Gustafson Pool for an 11 a.m. dual meet.
