FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Gustavus women's tennis team met its third nationally-ranked opponent in as many matches Wednesday afternoon, falling to No. 32 Mary Washington 6-3. The Gusties drop to 7-5 with two matches left on their spring trip to Virginia.

Bethany Smith 8-2 in the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Alli Laux and
Pavla Yakimova earned the team's first point of the day at No. 3, returning the 8-2 favor.
De Bruijn and Yakimova earned the two singles wins for the Gusties, with De Bruijn winning 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 and Yakimova 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 at No. 5. The Eagles won the remaining singles points, all in two sets.
"We had a better day today," said Head Coach
Jon Carlson. "We still have some things that we need to clen up in our shot selection, but it was an overall good day. We certainly got better in today's match."
The Gusties face Virginia Wesleyan and Averett Thursday and Friday to close out their trip.
