SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus women's tennis team wrapped up its annual Division II tournament, claiming seven championships, including seven draw championships and all the doubles titles.

The Gusties hosted opponents from Division III Grinnell and fellow MIAC opponent St. Catherine, as well as MSU-Mankato, MSU-Moorhead, and Sioux Falls.

Sunday's competition was highlighted by the performance of Karina Elvestrom (Fy., Minnetonka), who claimed the singles draw one over Grinnell's Paige Sargent. Last season, Sargent was the Midwest Conference's champion at the No. 2 singles. Elvestrom won the championship with two scores of 6-2. Kaya De Bruijn (Jr., Maasland, Netherlands) took second in the draw with a 6-0, 6-3 win over teammate Molly Austin (Jr., Arden Hills).

Madison Packer (Jr., Wadena) claimed the draw five championship, winning 6-3, 6-3 over teammate Veranique Poquette (So., Champlin), while Bethany Smith (So., Maple Grove) won draw six over SCU's Ashley King, 6-0, 7-6. Taylor Ruhl (Jr., Brainerd) claimed draw seven over teammate Tyra Gustavson (Fy., Madison, Wis.) 6-3, 6-1.

In the doubles competition, draw one featured an all-Gustie championship, as De Bruijn and Elvestrom faced off against Austin and Allison Szalay (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa). The pairs went to a super-breaker, with Austin and Szalay winning 8-7.

Alli Laux (5th, Onalaska, Wis.) and Smith claimed doubles draw two, winning 8-6 over teammates Ella De Young (So., Iowa City, Iowa) and Noor Omar (Fy., Fridley). Packer and Ashley Stroebel (Jr., Maplewood) claimed doubles draw three, winning 8-0 over fellow Gusties Katie Thompson (Fy., Darlington, England) and Ruhl.

"It was a great weekend with a lot of quality match play," said Head Coach Jon Carlson. "I think the team is very excited with our performances this weekend. We put a lot of hard work in the first three weeks of the season, and it's really exciting to see that paying off. This was a great primer as we prepare for the ITA Midwest Regionals next weekend."

The Gusties host the ITA Midwest Regional Championships from Friday to Monday, as well as draws in the Midwest Invite, at the Swanson Tennis Center.
