WASECA, Minn. - Molly Liston and
Tyler Smith picked up individual victories for Gustavus cross country at the Coach Finanger Invitational Friday at the Calonett Estate. The Gustie women won the six-team field with 30 points, while the men finished second out of four with 45 points. Luther won the men's competition with 21 points.Â
Liston led the pack throughout the women's race, finishing the 5k in 19:03.9, which was nearly a minute faster than the next finisher.
Sydney Hagen also reached the podium with a third place finish in 20:01.7.
Kailyn Walukas had a strong performance as well, taking seventh in 21:03.4.
Aubrey Mair,
Mackenzie Murphy,
Audrey Weiss, and
Abby Vizenor all crossed the line in the top-15.Â
Smith followed Liston's lead on the men's side, leading the race start to finish with a time of 16:13.4 in the 5k.
Evan Pouliot took eighth in 16:50.1, while
Soren Sackreiter,
Carson Roehl,
Markus Rupnow, and
Will Janzen all finished in the top-15.Â
The Gusties have next weekend off before competing at the St. Olaf Invitational on Sept. 21.Â
