SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College men's soccer team battled the Concordia College Cobbers at home on Wednesday afternoon in a conference contest. The Gusties cruised to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Cobbers.
Joe Flory opened the scoring for the Gusties in the 11
th minute of the game, heading in a corner kick from
Ryder Tomlinson to put Gustavus up 1-0.
Diego Paulin doubled the Gusties' lead in the 23
rd minute, receiving a pass from
Kieran Mahan and firing a line drive shot to the back left of the net to make it 2-0.
Gustavus led 2-0 at halftime and quickly made it 3-0 just three minutes into the second half as Mahan fired a shot past the Cobbers' keeper to add to the Gusties' lead.
In the 59
th minute, Tomlinson fired a pass from
Jack Isroff to the far side of the goal to put Gustavus up 4-0.
Mahan scored a second goal in the 67
th minute, curving a free kick past the defensive line and into the far top corner to put the Gusties up 5-0.
Gustavus outshot Concordia 20-3 with a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Jackson Baker had two saves for the Gusties to earn the shutout victory.
