BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – For the sixth time this season and the 10th time in his career,
Peyton Richardson (5th, Crystal Lake, Ill.) has been named the MIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Richardson led the Gustavus men's swimming team with a trio of top Division III times at the DI Minnesota First Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday. Richardson posted the best Division III times of the meet in the 100 butterfly (51.08), 200 IM (1:58.32), and 200 butterfly (1:56.63). His 200 freestyle time of 1:45.71 was also the second-best DIII time of the weekend, second only to one of his own teammates.
Nine of Ricahrdson's times this season rank in the top five of the MIAC. His 50 (22.80), 100 (48.69), and 200 (1:52.94) butterfly times are all best in the conference. His 100 time ranks 22nd in NCAA Division III, while his 50 fly is 48th.Â
The Gusties return to the pool for the MIAC Championship meet on Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 19-22. The meet begins with the men's 1-meter dive prelims at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a finals session at 7:30 p.m. The final three days all begin with prelims at 10:30 a.m. and finals sessions at 6:30 p.m.
