SAINT PETER, Minn. – Gustavus senior gymnast
Lili Guy (Glendale Heights, Ill.) competes at the 2025 NCGA Division III National Championships this Saturday, March 22, on home turf, with the national meet held on Gus Young Court in the Lund Center. The national appearance is Guy's first, and she'll be the sole Gustie qualifier at the meet.
TICKET AND CAMPUS INFORMATION
Doors for the event will open 90 minutes prior to the start of competition at 12:30 p.m. CST. The meet will be held at Gus Young Court. Tickets will be cash-only and sold at the main entryway doors in the Lund Center. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for children (ages 4-17) and students with ID, and free for children under the age of three. Fans are encouraged to park in the "A" and "G" lots on campus as indicated on the campus map. Lot "B" will be reserved for tournament staff, handicapped parking, and team buses. No dogs or alcoholic beverages are permitted inside the facility.
VAULTING THROUGH THE RECORD BOOKS
Guy has helped the Gusties post one of their best seasons on the vault, breaking the program team record five times. Gustavus first posted a 47.650 against UW-Oshkosh (Jan. 10), followed immediately by a 47.700 at the Rhode Island Triangular the next weekend. Guy's individual program record in the event brought the team to a 47.750 against Hamline on Feb. 24, followed by a 47.800 the next Sunday in the team's historical meet at Simpson on Feb. 23. The team saved its best performance for last, totaling a 48.025 for the first score above a 48 in Gustavus gymnastics history.
Individually, Guy tied the individual record with a 9.750 at UW-Oshkosh, followed by a 9.775 against Hamline to set the new record. She's totaled a 9.700 or above five different times this season, four of which have come in her last four meets. Guy posted a 9.725 at the WIAC Championships, and is averaging a 9.660 in the event this year.
FLOORING THE COMPETITION
Guy is also the top performer on floor this season, posting three scores of 9.775 (Simpson, UW-Stout, WIAC Championships) for a career-best total for the senior. She also owns a 9.750 as the third highest individual score for the Gusties, and a 9.700 for four of the top five this year. Guy is averaging a 9.628 this season, and has totaled a 9.700 or above in each of her last four meets.
HOSTING DUTIES
It's been 24 seasons since Gustavus hosted the NCGA National Championship in Saint Peter. The 1999 squad finished as national runners-up, led by the performances of Katie Kortuem '00 HOF '15, Michelle Pekel '02, Molly Nemes '01 HOF '16, and Sara McKiernan '00, who all earned All-America honors. Gustavus boasts eight national titles, with the most recent in 1994. The Gusties claimed five in a row from 1990-94, with the 1991 championship earned at home.
NATIONAL TITLES
The Gusties have won a total of 22 individual titles at the Division III national championships. The last Gustie to claim a title was Alex Kopp '17, who won the 2016 NCGA floor individual championship. Five of the Gusties titles were AIAW associated from 1980-82.
THE FIELD
The NCGA announced its selections for the national meet Sunday, March 9. The field features Guy, as well as 27 other individual qualifiers. Six teams qualified for the event: UW-Oshkosh, SUNY-Brockport, UW-La Crosse, SUNY-Cortland, UW-Whitewater, and Rhode Island College. UW-Oshkosh is the reigning three-time national champion.
