7/23/2025 11:30:00 AM

SAINT PETER, Minn. – Jordan Benson has been hired as the new Sports Information Director for Gustavus Adolphus College, athletic director Tom Brown announced Wednesday, July 23rd. Benson comes to Gustavus from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) where he was an Assistant Commissioner.

Benson graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in 2016 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a major in History and graduated with his Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University Wisconsin while holding the title of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant.

"I'm very excited to be joining the athletics department here at Gustavus as the new Sports Information Director." said Benson. "The Gusties have an incredible legacy of success and I'm honored to have the opportunity to promote the programs and tell their stories. I'm very grateful to Tom Brown and the entire Gustavus athletics department for this opportunity."

This is not Benson's first experience with the MIAC, he started his career in Sports Information as a Sports Information Intern and Game Day Site Manager with St. Olaf in August of 2017. After his graduate assistant position at Concordia-Wisconsin, Benson returned to Minnesota where he worked as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Information at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. This role was held for two years, where he led gameday coverage of all sports, improved social media content, and initiated multiple archiving projects to digitally preserve and present historical content for the college.

At the UMAC, Benson managed and created all social media content for the conference and worked with Hudl to launch the UMAC network. In his time at the UMAC, the social media presence and fan engagement numbers reached new heights, due to increased efforts on the quality and quantity of video content for the conference.

"We're excited to welcome Jordan Benson as our new Sports Information Director" said athletic director Tom Brown. "His extensive experience in collegiate athletics communications and leadership at both the institutional and conference levels make him a tremendous addition to our team, and we're confident he will carry on the rich tradition of excellence that defines sports information at Gustavus."

Gustavus Athletics opens up competition for the 2025-26 academic year on August 23rd, when men's and women's cross country hosts the Gustavus Alumni Meet.
