DECORAH, Iowa - The Gustavus cross country teams both finished second on Saturday at the Luther Legend's Invite. Sophomore
Addison Enfield won the women's event, topping multiple Division I runners to pace the Gusties.
The women's team ran the Tricia Serres 4K first in Decorah and finished second among five teams at the meet. Sophomore
Addison Enfield (Northfield, Minn.) finished first in the meet, running a personal best 15:03.9 to top all eleven runners for Division I St. Thomas and win the event. Classmate
Anna Forbord (Northfield, Minn.) finished second for the team, crossing the finish line in 15:29.1 which was also good for a personal-best. Fellow sophomore
Siiri Anderson (Duluth, Minn.) was the third finisher, just three seconds behind Forbord. Two more sophomores
Anna Gould (Amery, Wis.) and
Francesca Geffre (Roseville, Minn.) rounded out the scoring for Gustavus in 11th and 14th, respectively, both running personal bests to lift the Gusties to a second-place finish. Gustavus ended with 25 points and was the best Division III team at the meet.
On the men's side, the Gusties finished second and finished fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth, and 11th. Sophomore
Caden Riga (Belle Plaine, Minn.) finished fourth overall and first for the Gusties, crossing in 12:59.4, which was a personal best. First-year
Joey Gustafson (Virginia, Minn.) finished second with a 13:09.0 time and junior
Matthew Berge (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was just two seconds behind for third. First-year
Matthew Jenneke (Plymouth, Minn.) and senior
Evan Pouliot (Circle Pines, Minn.) rounded out the scoring with times of 13:17.5 and 13:23.9. The Gusties finished second overall with 34 points.
Next weekend, both Gustavus cross country teams will travel to the CSB+SJU Autumn Classic, held at River Oaks Golf Course in Cold Spring.
