CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Gustavus Adolphus College volleyball team faced the Cornell College Rams and the Coe College Kohawks on Saturday. The Gusties defeated both teams 3-1 to improve to 10-1 on the year.
Match One: Cornell
Gustavus took the opening set 25-17 but fell in set two 25-23. The Gusties responded with a 25-17 win in the third and then clinched the match with a 25-21 fourth set victory.
Logan Brent led Gustavus with 18 kills on .250 hitting.
Leah Berg followed with 13 kills, hitting .435 in the win.
Macie Malchow led the Gusties in assists with 33.
Ella Olson had a team-high 15 digs.
Gustavus hit .254 as a team while holding Cornell to a .015 hitting percentage.
Match Two: Coe
The Gusties went up 1-0 in the match with a 25-19 opening set victory. Coe answered with a 25-22 win in set two to tie the match up. Gustavus went on to take the third set 25-14 and the fourth set 25-20 to secure a 3-1 victory.
Berg had a team-high 12 kills on .256 hitting.
Sophia Deyak had 11 kills with a .435 hitting percentage. Malchow recorded 49 assists in the win.
Olivia Stockham led the Gusties with 27 digs.
Gustavus hit .268 in the win while holding the Kohawks to just .148 as a team.

The Gusties travel to Northfield to compete in the St. Olaf Invitational starting Friday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m. against the University of Dubuque Spartans.
