BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Owen Forsythe of the Gustavus Adolphus College football team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Forsythe tied a Gustavus record on Saturday, punting 11 times in the Gusties' home opener against No. 12 Bethel. His 443 punt yards are the most in school history and third all-time in MIAC history for a single game. He averaged 40.3 yards per punt, the best clip in the MIAC this week, added one punt of over 50 yards, and had three punts inside the 20-yard line, all of which were downed inside the 10-yard line. His punt yards are tied for second this season in Division III for a single game performance and is eighth across all NCAA divisions.
Up next for Gusties football is a conference road game at Concordia Moorhead this Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m.
