NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Gustavus Adolphus College men's swimming and diving team competed against the Carleton College Knights on Friday night, taking a 185-115 victory.
Ben Kell won the 1000 freestyle, placing first with a time of 10:17.57.
Mason Deitering was victorious in the 500 freestyle, winning the event in 4:58.35.
Logan Braley and
Charles Newton placed first and second in the 200 freestyle with times of 1:49.36 and 1:49.86 respectively.
Braden Ripken won the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.82.
Josh Wallin led the Gusties as the runner-up in the 100 freestyle, finishing in 48.88.
Aidynn Havermann took first in the 200 backstroke, winning the event with a time of 1:57.80. Wallin led Gustavus in the 100 backstroke, placing second with a time of 53.25.
Mason Cote and
Aiden Carlson placed first and second in the 200 breaststroke respectively, finishing less than a second apart at 2:16.05 and 2:16.57. Ripken was victorious in the 100 breaststroke, finishing under a minute at 57.84.
Kell led Gustavus in the 100 butterfly, placing second with a time of 53.49.
Britton Patee had the top Gustie time in the 200 butterfly at 2:03.26, placing third.
Havermann broke two minutes in the 200 IM to win the event, placing first with a time of 1:59.75.
Trevor Johnson took second in the 3-meter dive (163.55) and the 1-meter dive (158.85).
Gustavus won the 200 medley relay (1:35.46) and the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.77).
Up next for the Gusties is a return to Saint Peter for their Senior Day meet against Saint John's on Saturday, January 17 with the diving events starting at 9:00 a.m. and the swimming events following at 1:00 p.m.
