STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Gustavus Adolphus College men's swimming and diving team competed in day one of the Point Invite on Friday, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers. The Gusties stand in second place after the opening day with a score of 514.5. UW-La Cross leads the meet at 563.5 points while UW-Stevens Point is third with 416.
Josh Wallin tied for first-place in the 100 backstroke, swimming the event in 54.00 to tie for the win.
Mason Deitering was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle, finishing just 3.09 second after the leader at 5:57.19.
Logan Cyr had the top time for Gustavus in the 100 freestyle, placing sixth at 49.63.
Britton Patee took second overall in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:00.33.
Aidynn Havermann led the Gusties in the 200 IM, placing third with a time of 1:58.69.
Mason Cote swam the 200 breaststroke in 2:16.47, leading the Gusties and placing fourth overall.
Trevor Johnson placed ninth in the 3-meter dive, scoring 283.80.
Gustavus was the runner-up in both the 400 medley relay (3:34.30) and 200 freestyle relay (1:26.92).
Up next for the Gusties is the second and final day of the Point Invite on Saturday, January 24 starting in the morning at 10:00 a.m.
