Women’s Swim & Dive Hosts Gustie Challenge

SAINT PETER, Minn. - The Gustavus Adolphus College women's swimming and diving team competed in their Gustie Challenge meet on Friday and Saturday. MSU-Mankato sent a few swimmers from their team to join the competition in five of the events.
 
Kaia Churness had the top finish for Gustavus in the 1650 and 500 freestyle events, winning the 1650 (18:56.78) placing second in the 500 (5:21.07). Annika Beck placed first in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 2:00.69. Leah Felton swam a 55.03 in the 100 freestyle to win. Katelyn Siers was the runner-up in the 50 freestyle at 24.86.
 
Madison Witte led the field in the 200 butterfly, winning the race with a time of 2:15.55. Samantha Villa beat the minute mark in the 100 butterfly to win the event at 59.87.
 
Gabby Lee took first place in the 200 breaststroke at 2:38.66. Linnea Reinsmoen won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.07.
 
Siers took the top spot in the 200 and 100 backstroke races, winning both with times of 2:13.45 and 1:01.20 respectively.
 
Stella Anderson Moye won the 400 IM for Gustavus, leading the way with a time of 4:54.63. Beck led the Gusties in the 200 IM, placing seventh at 2:17.10.
 
Gustavus won the 200 medley relay (1:52.89), 800 freestyle relay (8:20.60), and 400 freestyle relay (3:44.65). The Gusties placed second in both the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.54) and the 400 medley relay (4:06.75).
 
Up next for Gustavus is the MIAC Championships starting Wednesday, February 11 and running for four days through Saturday.
