NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Today marked the first of five potential trips to Northfield for the Gustavus cross country team and at the St. Olaf Invitational, the women kicked things off with a 7th place finish while the men wrapped up the event by finishing 9th as a team. 

The women's 6k race was the first of the day, running through the morning mist in Northfield. The sophomore brigade for the Gustie women showed out in their first long-course meet of the season, accounting for the top four scorers of the day. Addison Enfield (Northfield, Minn.) used the homecoming of sorts to finish 11th place individually, crossing in 23:12.3. Fellow Northfield native Anna Forbord crossed second for Gustavus in 44th, clocking a 24:11.9 time. Siiri Anderson (Duluth, Minn.) ran nearly a 42 second personal best, finishing just four spots and 4.5 seconds behind Forbord in 24:16.4. Anna Gould (Amery, Wis.) and senior Laura Sunnarborg (Minnetrista, Minn.) were the final two scorers for the Gusties, clocking times of 24:51.4 and 25:04.7 for 66th and 79th, respectively. 

On the men's side, senior Nick Brauer (Mankato, Minn.) started his senior campaign by leading the Gusties in 29th with a 26:16.6 time. Sophomore Caden Riga (Belle Plaine, Minn.) had the second-best time for Gustavus after leading the team at the Augustana Twilight, ending in 27:02.2 this time around. Junior Matthew Berge (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and senior Evan Pouliot (Circle Pines, Minn.) crossed the finish line right next to each other in 82nd and 83rd with times of 27:22.2and 27:24.0 The last scorer on the team was first-year Joey Gustafson (Virginia, Minn.) scoring in his first 8k meet with a time of 27:33.7. The team finished 9th. 

Both cross country teams will take a week off before returning to Northfield for the Running of the Cows, which will take place at the Bill Huyck Championship Course, home of the 2026 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
