SUPERIOR, Wis. - After defeating Augsburg on Saturday, the Gusties traveled to Superior, Wisconsin to take on the UW-Superior Yellowjackets on Wednesday. Although the Gusties led in numerous categories, they could not find a winner and settled for a draw with UWS.
In the first half, the Gusties dominated on the offensive side, finding eight shots on goal compared to the Yellowjackets' two. None of those found the back of the net, but juniors
Lauren Coy (Mahtomedi, Minn.) and
Meghan Colebeck (South St. Paul, Minn.) both fired off two shots on goal to lead the team. Six different Gusties took shots on goal overall and Gustavus took 12 shots total. The visitors also had the only corner kick of the half. Â
Gustavus had four more shots on goal in the second half and only allowed one to reach senior
Katelyn Olson (Cloquet, Minn.) for a save. The Gusties also led in shots, 7-5, but again, could not find the winner. From the 52nd minute through the 64th, Gustavus was the only team who had any shots on goal, firing five, all from different players.Â
Coy led the team with three shots on goal in the contest and senior
Taylor Finney (Byron, Minn.), junior
Kate Hamski (Blaine, Minn.), and sophomore
Sophia Post (Mankato, Minn.) all played 90 minutes along with goalkeeper Olson. The team took 12 shots on goal on 19 total shots and had three corner kicks across the 90 minutes.Â
