RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Gusties competed at River Falls for the first time ever, placing third overall for both the women and men teams. The track proved to be hot with 22 personal records overall.

On the women's side, Laura Thauvin earned third place in the 60m finishing in 8.22. Sophia Vogel led the hurdle group with a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line in 9.70. Isabel Fynboh added another top five performance by placing fifth in the 400m with a time of 1:02.21. Representing the distance squad, Laura Sunnarborg finished fifth in the 3000m with a time of 11:02.77.

The triple jump trio delivered another strong showing, as Ava Loftness placed second with a mark of 11.01m, Kayla Kajer took fourth at 10.43m, and Kaylee Hawks finished fifth at 10.42m. Hawks also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.00m. In the throws, Yonna Harris led the Gusties in the shot put with an 11.82m heave, good for fifth place. Rebecca Hoffman followed with a fifth place finish in the weight throw at 13.69m.

For the men, Jade Anstine placed second in the 60m with a time of 7.02. Luke Scheel earned second place in the 400m in 51.21, followed closely by Conner Martens in his impressive debut at 51.52 and Ty Swanson at 52.06. Nicholas Brauer added a third place finish in the 800m, running 1:57.64.

Field events were highlighted by Landon Gilbertson, who cleared 1.83m to place fifth in the high jump. Liam Frommelt secured third place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.84m. Carter Will also contributed with a fourth place finish in the shot put, throwing 14.17m.

The meet concluded in electric fashion with the mixed 4x400 relays (made up of two men and two women). Ten Gustavus teams, consisting of athletes from every event, competed against a huge field of 39 total teams. This marked the first time Gustavus had competed in the event, resulting in five school records being set across five consecutive heats. The top Gustavus relay of Fynboh, Anstine, Teagan Stark, and Scheel finished with a time of 3:47.67, which also set a new facility record on top of the school record. It was also fun to see coaches Lexi LeFever and Jacqi Rae compete in the 4x4 as well.

The Gusties travel to Northfield next week to compete at Carleton's Meet of the Hearts on Feb. 8.
