COURTLAND, N.Y. – Gustavus gymnastics sophomore
Cara Wong competed at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships on Friday. The Gustie sophomore earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the all-around competition at the national championship, scoring 36.725 points.
Wong opened her day in the uneven bars, scoring 9.350. The balance beam followed, where she scored 8.800. In the floor exercise, the sophomore earned a 9.025. Wong closed out her championship competition in the vault, scoring 9.550 to tie for 32
nd overall in the nation in the event.
Wong is the 61
st All-American in the history of the Gustavus gymnastics program. The most recent Gustie All-American award winners were Brooke Merila and Sophia Redding in 2022, earning their honors in the all-around and uneven bars, respectively.
