PITTSBURGH – Cara Wong of the Gustavus Adolphus College gymnastics team has been named a 2026 Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Regular Season Second Team All-American in the all-around, the organization announced on Monday. The sophomore earned the award with a national qualifying standard of 37.175 in the all-around this season.
This winter, the sophomore tied the fourth-highest all-around score in program history at 38.100 in Gustavus' final meet of the regular season against Simpson on February 27.
Vault was Wong's best event this season, averaging 9.527. The sophomore's top score was 9.700 on February 27 against Simpson, which tied her for the sixth-highest vault score in program history.
In the floor exercise, Wong averaged 9.406 this year. The sophomore scored a season-best 9.600 in the event twice this year, first against UW-Oshkosh on January 23 and again in the Gusties' regular season finale against Simpson.
Wong's average in the uneven bars this winter was 9.185, highlighted by a top-score of 9.550 in the triangular meet on January 16 with UW-Eau Claire and Winona State.
On the balance beam, Wong's average this season was 8.867 The sophomore's top score on the beam this season was 9.600 on January 9 at UW-Eau Claire.
For Division III, Second Team All-America is awarded to the second-place finisher, plus ties, of the NCAA regular season for all four events plus the all-around in each region. The awards will be based on all scores as of the Monday before the NCGA Championships.
