BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Karina Elvestrom of the No. 19 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Elvestrom won all six of her #1 matches last week as the Gusties went 4-0 against MIAC opponents. The sophomore won 6-1, 6-0 at #1 singles and teamed up with
Kaya De Bruijn to take #1 doubles 6-2 in the first win over Hamline. Elvestrom then swept #1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and #1 doubles with De Bruijn 6-0 in a victory over St. Scholastica. She then closed out the weekend with a 6-1, 6-0 #1 singles win and a 6-0 #1 doubles sweep with De Bruijn to cap off the weekend in a win over Saint Mary's.
Up next for Gustavus is the Midwest Invite, a two-day event starting Friday, April 3 and running through Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.
