BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The Gustavus men's track team earned 13 honors at this year's MIAC Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships, six of which were all-conference and the other seven which were honorable mention. The 13 awards helped the Gustie men finish fourth at the meet, their best finish since 2012.
On the track, junior
Jade Anstine (Sioux Falls, S.D.) tripled up on all conference honors, starting with the 60-meter. Anstine ran a 6.52 to finish third and finished third again in the 200-meter with a time of 22.43. He joined junior classmate
Tyler Heil (Appleton, Wis.), sophomore
Conner Martens (Nicollet, Minn.) and first-year
Luke Scheel to finish third in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:29.30, a school record. Senior

In the field, sophomore

In addition to being named all-conference in the 4x200-meter relay, Martens had a great showing as a sophomore, earning honorable mention status in both the 200-meter and 400-meter, finishing fifth in both races with times of 22.57 and 50.30 respectively. Martens was accompanied by Scheel and juniors
Cullen Arneson (Minneapolis, Minn.) and
Nick Brauer (Mankato, Minn.) in the 4x400-meter race where the team also finished fifth with a time of 3:24.16. Brauer individually was responsible for two more honorable mention honors, finishing in fourth in both the 1000-meter and 1-mile. Brauer's time of 2:28.10 in the 1000-meter was a school record, topping former teammate
Tyler Smith '25's record 2:28.59. Brauer also topped Tucker Wallin '23's record in the mile, finishing in 4:16.46, just two hundredths of a second faster.
Sophomore
Landon Gilbertson (Fairmont, Minn.) earned honorable mention status in the high jump, getting over 1.84m to finish fifth. Sophomore classmate
Liam Frommelt (Woodbury, Minn.) was the best for the team in triple jump at the meet, finishing sixth by jumping 13.29m.
No members of the men's track & field team will be competing this weekend at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier, meaning the team gets to enjoy their spring break and get ready for the outdoor season, starting on March 28th at the Saint John's Optimistic Open.
