SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 23 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team battled the Macalester College Scots on Sunday in a conference contest. The Gusties swept the Scots 7-0 to move to 26-5 overall and remain undefeated in the MIAC at 9-0.
Karina Elvestrom and
Kaya De Bruijn swept #1 doubles 6-0 to start the match.
Molly Austin and
Lanie Davis clinched the doubles team point for Gustavus with a 6-1 win at #2 doubles.
Ella De Young and
Allison Szalay finished doubles with a 6-1 win at #3.
Davis and De Young swept their #6 and #5 singles matches 6-0, 6-0 to put the Gusties up 3-0.
Noor Omar clinched the match for Gustavus with a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4 singles.
Elvestrom took #1 singles 6-0, 6-1. Austin won #3 singles 6-1, 6-1. De Bruijn closed the match with a 6-1, 7-5 win at #2 singles to complete the sweep.
Up next for the Gusties is their regular season finale against Bethel on Saturday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m. before they open postseason play in the MIAC Playoffs the following week.
