BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Karina Elvestrom of the No. 23 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team has been named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Elvestrom led Gustavus to two wins over the weekend, going 4-0 in matches played. In a key win over Carleton, the sophomore teamed up with
Kaya De Bruijn for a 6-2 win at #1 doubles and then won #1 singles 6-1, 6-3. In the Gusties' win over Macalester, Elvestrom and Debruijn swept #1 doubles 6-0 while the sophomore went on to nearly sweep #1 singles 6-0, 6-1.
Up next for the Gusties is their regular season finale against Bethel on Saturday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m. before they open postseason play in the MIAC Playoffs the following week.
