LA CROSSE, Wis. - Seniors
Molly Liston and
Connor McCormick competed on the first day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships and was highlighted by an All-American honor earned by Liston in the women's 10,000-meter race.
Senior
Molly Liston (Richfield, Minn.) ended her collegiate career with a personal-best in the 10,000-meter, crossing in 35:30.90. The time brought her 15th place and a second-team All-American honor, which will seem a little bit sweeter after missing out on All-American status at the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships by one spot. Liston bested her own school record, which was 35:36.38, by five seconds and maintained her climb to a personal best with negative splits through the three laps, pushing her from 16th to 15th place. The Richfield, Minn. native was never outside of the All-American list after 1600 meters in, floating between 14th and 16th for the remaining 8400 meters.
Senior
Connor McCormick (Stillwater, Minn.) competed in the first day of the decathlon as well, making his debut in the Championships. McCormick had personal bests in six events at the MIAC Decathlon three weeks ago to qualify for the NCAA Decathlon, just making the field.
The day started with the 100-meter, where McCormick ran an 11.68, good for 715 points and to move into 20th place of the 22 competitors. The second event, the long jump, brought a 6.11 mark for the Stillwater native, only using a 0.7 m/s tailwind for the best mark on his second jump. McCormick finished 10th in the shot put as well, where McCormick had a 10.19 meter heave in 20th place.
The next two events were better for McCormick, starting with an 18th place finish in the high jump. The senior cleared 1.74 meters, adding 577 points to climb up to 2399 total points through four events. The final event of the day, the 400-meter, was also good for 18th by McCormick, finishing in 52.45, a personal best by 0.03 seconds.
McCormick wraps up his collegiate career tomorrow with the second day of the decathlon, starting at 10:00 a.m. once again.
