Five Gusties Earn CSC Softball Academic All-District Awards

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Gustavus Adolphus College softball team had five student-athletes earn College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District awards, the organization formerly known as CoSIDA announced on Tuesday. Lauren Lambert, Caitlin Olafsson, Hailey Petzel, Paige Gritzmaker, and Maizie Anderson were all named Academic All-District honorees. The award recognizes student-athletes who perform at an elite level in both their chosen sport and in the classroom.
 
CSC Tennis Academic All-District award winners must have a cumulative GPA above 3.50 and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Student-athletes must also compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances OR pitched 35 innings.
 
Lambert is a Statistics major with a 4.00 GPA and was a MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention. The senior played second base and led Gustavus with a .383 batting average and .483 on-base percentage to go along with a .433 slugging percentage for the second-best OPS on the team at .916. Lambert had 46 hits with six doubles, 14 RBI, 18 runs scored, and drew a team-high 26 walks. The senior also tied for the team lead in stolen bases with 10 in 14 attempts. This is the third CSC Academic All-District award for Lambert in her career.
 
Olafsson is a Public Health and Psychology major with a 3.95 GPA and was named to the MIAC All-Conference team. The senior shortstop slashed .346/.416/.456 this spring, leading the Gusties with 47 hits. Olafsson had nine doubles and two home runs at the plate to help drive in 23 runs. The senior scored a team-leading 29 runs on the basepaths and also tied for the team lead in stolen bases with 10 in 11 attempts. This is the third CSC Academic All-District award for Olafsson in her career.
 
Petzel is an Elementary Education major with a 3.94 GPA and was named to the MIAC All-Conference team. In the circle, the senior pitcher led Gustavus with a 1.58 ERA in 57.2 innings of work, holding opponents to a .266 batting average and striking out 34. At the plate as the designated player, Petzel slashed .310/.370/.397 with 39 hits, five doubles, two home runs, 15 RBI, and 12 runs scored. This is the first CSC Academic All-District award for Petzel in her career.
 
Gritzmaker is a Nursing major with a 3.75 GPA and was named to the MIAC All-Conference team. The sophomore catcher led the Gusties with a .951 OPS, slashing .339/.412/.539 this spring. Gritzmaker had 39 hits with a team-high 12 doubles, three home runs, and a triple. The sophomore also had a team-leading 34 RBI and scored 20 runs on the basepaths. This is the first CSC Academic All-District award for Gritzmaker in her career.
 
Anderson is a Business Management major with a 3.66 GPA and was named to the MIAC All-Conference team. The senior pitcher led the Gusties in the circle with 100 innings pitched, throwing nine complete games with three shutouts. Anderson struck out 107 batters, held opponents to a .225 batting average, and had a 3.15 ERA. This is the second CSC Academic All-District award for Anderson in her career.
 
The Gusties concluded their 2026 spring season with a 20-19 overall record. In the MIAC, Gustavus went 13-9 and closed out their regular season with a 7-1 run to jump up to fourth in the conference standings.
