SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 19 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team will take on No. 28 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, May 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wilkinson Tennis Complex in the second round of the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship.

The Gusties begin their national postseason play in the second round after having earned a bye through the first. Gustavus is 29-5 on the year, winning their 32nd MIAC Regular Season Championship this season with a perfect 10-0 record in the conference. They then won their 10th MIAC Playoff Championship to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 28th time in program history.
Karina Elvestrom leads Gustavus at #1 singles with a 17-6 overall record, going 7-2 in tournament matches this season.
Kaya De Bruijn follows at #2 singles, standing at 18-3 overall. As the #1 doubles pair for the Gusties, Elvestrom and De Bruijn are 25-4 overall, 6-2 in tournament matches, and rank 15
th in the nation.

The Eagles are 21-2 overall this season, going 6-0 in the WIAC to win their regular season title. UW-La Crosse went on to win the WIAC Tournament as well to secure their third appearance in the national tournament in school history and first since 2007. The Eagles advance to face Gustavus in the second round after defeating the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets 4-0 in the opening round of the national tournament.
Tasha Bailey leads the Eagles at #1 singles, going 16-4 overall with a 11-3 record in duals and 3-1 record in tournaments. Shelby Roth follows with a 16-7 record, splitting time between #1 (5-1) and #2 (9-5) singles with a 2-1 tournament record. The pair are La Crosse's #1 doubles team, going 18-5 overall with a 13-4 record in duals and 5-1 record in tournament matches.
MATCHUP HISTORY
The last time Gustavus and UW-La Crosse competed against each other was all the way back in 2001. On May 13
th of that spring, the Gusties and Eagles battled in Saint Peter with Gustavus taking an 8-1 victory over La Crosse.
