WOODBURY, Minn. – The Gustavus Adolphus College women's golf team finished their weekend of competition at the St. Kate's Invitational on Sunday at Eagle Valley Golf Course. The Gusties opened the tournament with a round of +25 on Saturday and followed up with a round of +28 on Sunday, tying for seventh place out of the field of 11 teams with a total score of +53.
 
Addison Longie highlighted the weekend for the Gusties with a record-setting performance. The sophomore had an opening round of +1 on Saturday and then a final round of -1 on Sunday to shoot even par for the weekend. In doing so, Longie finished as the individual runner-up at the invite and set the new program 36-hole record with 144 strokes, breaking the previous record of 146 set back in 2005 by alumna Kelli Groff.

"The first day was tough with the wind and rain but my lag putting kept me in a good position," said Longie. "The second day my ball striking was much better and I was able to put a good round together."
 
UW-Stout won the event with a team score of +26. St. Catherine and Macalester rounded out the top three teams with scores of +32 and +38 respectively.
 
Sydney Lovick had the second-best Gustie score, shooting +16 at the invite. Karina Johnson followed at +17. Teckla Wahlstrand had the fourth and final counted Gustavus score, shooting +20.
 
"First, we have to congratulate Addy with her runner-up finish at even par while setting a new 36-hole program record," said Gustavus assistant coach Randall Stuckey. "That is an incredible accomplishment. She had been striking the ball very well all weekend but did so particularly well today, making the game look so easy. We are a young group and they are learning a lot about themselves and golf at the collegiate level. The gals had a really solid round going, but we need to do a better job of finishing the last few holes."
 
Up next for the Gusties is a trip to Williamstown, Massachusetts for the two-day Williams Invitational at Taconic Country Club starting Friday, September 26.
