SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 15 nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus College women's tennis team is hosting and competing in the 2026 ITA DIII Women's Midwest Regional Championships this weekend. In the second day of competition, three Gusties advanced into the singles quarterfinals and likewise three Gustavus doubles duos have fought their way to the semifinals.
Singles Draw
Karina Elvestrom, the two-time defending Midwest Regional Singles Champion, won her Round of 32 match 6-1, 6-1 over Eliana Martin of Grinnell. She then defeated Chloe Regal of UW-Stevens Point to punch her ticket to the Elite Eight.
Noor Omar rallied to earn a hard-fought 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) victory over Sophia Fain of Coe to advance to the Sweet 16. The junior then took down Michaela Sullivan of Bethel, again rallying for a 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-4) win to advance to the regional quarterfinals.
Rory Wahlstrand continues to make a splash in her first ever ITA Regional. The first year advanced to the Round of 32 on the opening day Friday, and now after Saturday she is in the quarterfinals. Wahlstrand defeated Alice Tysoe of Coe 6-2, 6-1 and then swept Luiza Kohn of Grinnell 3-0.
Doubles Draw
The Gustie duo of Elvestrom, who is aiming for a third-consecutive ITA Midwest Regional Doubles title, and Wahlstrand advanced to the regional semifinals, starting the day with an 8-2 win over Maia Samuelson and Lauren Lindow of UW-La Crosse. The two then punched their ticket to the Final Four with a victory over Michaella Sullivan and Claire Keller of Bethel .
Lanie Davis and
Ella De Young also moved on to the Final Four. The duo earned an 8-1 victory over Niki Manojlovic and Kamila Dobija of Carthage and then took down Lena Lichau and Allie Christensen of Luther 8-3 on Saturday.
Omar and
Maya Brakhage advanced to the doubles semifinals as well. On Saturday, they swept Magdalena Kristo and Reese Keller of UW-Eau Claire 8-0 and then defeated Shelby Roth and Hannah Cady of UW-LaCrosse with an 8-6 victory.

The Gusties will continue on through the ITA Regional draws on Sunday, September 27 with the singles players opening the day in the Elite Eight and the doubles teams starting in the Final Four. The first matches of the day are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
