Cole Pengilly is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Gustavus baseball program in the 2024-25 academic year. Pengilly also serves as the head coach of the JV baseball team.

Pengilly, a 2021 Gustavus graduate and baseball alum, was an All-Conference player for the Gusties in his three-year collegiate career.

In his first season, Pengilly helped the Gusties to a 23-16 overall record and 12-8 mark in the MIAC. He was also a member of the team in 2019 when the Gusties won the first MIAC Championship since 1980.

A native of nearby Le Sueur, Minn., Pengilly was a two-time All-MIAC honoree in 2019 and 2021. He hit .345 while playing in all 109 games of his three-year collegiate career. He ranks 10th in program history with eight triples in his career. As a shortstop, he notched 261 assists, also good for eighth in program history.

After graduating from Gustavus with a degree in health and physical education Pengilly made his professional debut in 2021 with the Sioux Falls Canaries. He went 5-for-9 with a double in four games before suffering a season ending leg injury.

Pengilly also serves as the lead hitting and fielding instructor at 507 Baseball Academy, the premier baseball training academy in Southern Minnesota. He is in fourth year as a staff member for 507, conducting lessons and aiding in the performance program. He also coaches one of the 507 Blizzard teams.
