Zach Vine is in his ninth year with the Gustavus football coaching staff in the 2024-25 academic year.

Vine, a 2015 graduate of Gustavus, serves as the director of player development for the Gusties, a title he has held since the 2023 season.

Last season, Vine helped lead the 2023 football team to its first MIAC championship game since 1987, finishing 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the MIAC. The Gusties, after defeating nationally-ranked No. 7 Saint John's for the first time in 10 years, won the Northwoods Division for the first time since the MIAC's divisional structure was created.

Vine previously served as the strength & conditioning coordinator and defensive line coach for the program.

Vine graduated with his degree in exercise physiology and was a four-year member of the Gustie football team. During his career as a student-athlete, Vine played in 25 games and started at offensive guard in all 10 games of his senior year. During the 2014 season, Vine was a team captain and was honored with the Lee Krough Award, MIAC Sportsmanship Award, and the Gustavus Senior Leadership Award.

A native of Lino Lakes, Minn. and graduate of Centennial High School, Vine served as a strength & conditioning coordinator for Saint Peter High School in the summer of 2015. In 2016, he served as an assistant strength coach for Minnetonka High School during their summer program. In the summer of 2017, he served as a strength & conditioning intern for the University of Iowa football team.

Vine is a certified strength & conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He completed his master's degree in human performance with an emphasis on strength training & conditioning from Liberty University in 2020.

Vine lives in Saint Peter with his wife Liz '15 and their daughters Marta and Georgia.Â
